Some difficulties in relationships keep coming back: the same argument with your partner, or the same ending with a different person. When that happens, the difficulty on the outside often reflects a conflict on the inside. In one-to-one sessions we look at what is going on underneath, so that you have more choice in how you respond.
You do not need to be in a relationship to work on this. Often the question is also how you relate to yourself: your self-worth, and whether you can be yourself with other people.
I am a counsellor and certified Adler practitioner. Adlerian psychology starts from the idea that the way we relate to others makes sense once we know where it comes from: the family we grew up in and the beliefs we formed there about ourselves and other people.
Together we look at the patterns behind your reactions and choices, and at what keeps them going today. We may talk about your early experiences and about the roles you take on again and again.
In the sessions we work on what depends on you in the relationship: how you react and what you can change.
Because understanding a pattern does not change it, we also work on practical things, such as how you respond in a conflict and how you say what you need.
I do not give quick advice, and I do not decide for you. The aim is that you see your situation clearly and can choose for yourself.
My sessions are consultations. They are not medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.
